Reduced-Fare OMNY

Reduced-Fare customers can tap to pay subway and bus fares with OMNY.

Tap for your Reduced-Fare rides

Your Reduced-Fare OMNY card lets you tap for half-price fares on MTA buses, subways, Staten Island Railway, Roosevelt Island Tram, and Hudson Rail Link.

It's easy to use: Simply tap your Reduced-Fare OMNY card on the screen at a subway turnstile or on the bus. When it turns green and says "GO," you're ready to ride.

With OMNY, you can:

  • Pay 12 fares in seven days, and the rest of your rides for those seven days are free.
  • Skip the vending machine and load your card online with a free OMNY account.
  • Get the same free transfers you did with MetroCard.

OMNY transactions are safe and secure. But your Reduced-Fare OMNY card is only yours to use.

If you’re an existing Reduced-Fare customer who already switched to OMNY using your credit or debit card or mobile device, you can continue using your card or device as usual.

What to do with your Reduced-Fare MetroCard

If you have a Reduced-Fare MetroCard, spend down the remaining value on your MetroCard and then start using your Reduced-Fare OMNY card. You have until the expiration date printed on the back of your MetroCard to use it.

You can also visit Customer Service Centers at select subway stations to transfer the balance from your Reduced-Fare MetroCard to your Reduced-Fare OMNY card. Customer Service Centers are located in accessible stations and are open 24/7. Balance transfers are also available at our Customer Service Center in Lower Manhattan on weekdays or at Mobile Sales vehicles when they visit your neighborhood.

If you ride Bee-Line or NICE buses, you should continue to use your Reduced-Fare MetroCard until OMNY is available on these services. If you need a Reduced-Fare MetroCard to ride Bee-Line or NICE buses, call 511.
