For nine days of traditionally low ridership between the Christmas and New Year holidays, E trains will run via the F in both directions between Roosevelt Av and West 4 St. There will be no M service weekdays between Forest Hills-71 Av in Queens and Essex St in Manhattan. Robust alternate service options are available.
Changes on the 7 line and the 42 St shuttle will take effect beginning in early January. The MTA is coordinating work to make sure customers always have at least one crosstown subway option.
The tunnel between Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn is the last of eleven damaged during Superstorm Sandy to be rehabbed. The work remains on schedule. The project is federally funded.
Free shuttle bus service is being provided between Rockaway Park and Beach 67 St. Customers can also use Q35 bus to connect to 2 and 5 subway train service. Work is also being performed on additional days in November and December.
The fully accessible station now includes new ADA platform enhancements, staircases, and restored surrounding streets and sidewalks. The work marks the completion of major construction on the Brooklyn side of the Canarsie tunnel project.
The stations are now known as Franklin Avenue-Medgar Evers College and President Street-Medgar Evers College. They were renamed to honor Medgar Evers College and the civil rights icon for whom it is named.
