Subway service changes: January 24-27, 2025

There are service changes on the subway this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Friday and welcome to the last weekend in January!

If you're traveling to JFK airport  this weekend, note that ​ trains aren't running to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport. Take the ​ to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport or the ​ to Howard Beach-JFK Airport.

And a reminder for riders in the Rockaways: Major service changes are now in effect on the  and Rockaway Park Shuttle, and will continue until May. Learn more about these changes.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a handy map):

  •  trains aren't stopping at Van Cortlandt Park-242 St.
  •  trains aren't running between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse.
  •  trains aren't running between Inwood-207 St and 168 St.
  •  trains aren't running between 168 St and 145 St.
  • Jamaica Center-bound ​ trains are running on the ​ from W 4 St-Washington Sq to 21 St-Queensbridge.
  •  trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St.
  •  trains aren't running between 8 Av and 14 St-Union Sq.
  •  trains aren't running between 34 St-Herald Sq and Prospect Park.

Major subway service changes

 trains, the Bronx

 trains aren't stopping at Van Cortlandt Park-242 St in either direction from 6:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from Van Cortlandt Park-242 St, take free shuttle buses, which are running between Van Cortlandt Park-242 St and 238 St.
  •  trains are running between 238 St and South Ferry, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

 trains, the Bronx

 trains aren't running between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse in either direction on Saturday and Sunday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse, take the .
  •  trains are running in two sections:
    • Between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St, all weekend.
    • Between Bowling Green and 149 St-Grand Concourse and on the  to/from Burnside Av, every 12 minutes. Burnside Av-bound trains aren't stopping at 138 St-Grand Concourse or from 149 St-Grand Concourse to Burnside Av. 

 trains, Manhattan

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  •  trains aren't running between Inwood-207 St and 168 St.
    •  trains are running between 168 St and Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd or Howard Beach-JFK Airport. 
  •  trains aren't running between 168 St and 145 St.
    •  trains are running between 145 St and Euclid Av. At 145 St,  trains are stopping at the lower level  platform.

This is because of track maintenance.

  • For service between Inwood-207 St and 168 St, use nearby  stops or take free shuttle buses, which are running along two routes:
    • Broadway shuttle buses are running between Inwood-207 St and 168 St.
    • Fort Washington Av shuttle buses are running between 190 St and 168 St.
  • For local service between 168 St and 145 St, take the , which is making local stops between these stations all weekend.

 trains, Manhattan and Queens

Jamaica Center-bound  trains are running on the  from W 4 St-Washington Sq to 21 St-Queensbridge from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from 14 St, 34 St-Penn Station, and 42 St-Port Authority Bus Terminal, take  trains.
  • For service to/from 23 St and 50 St, take  or  local trains. 
  • For service to/from 7 Av, take the .
  • For service to/from 5 Av/53 St, use nearby 57 St  or 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr .
  • For service to/from Lexington Av/53 St, use nearby Lexington Av/59 St .
  • For service to/from Court Sq-23 St, take the .
  • For service to/from Queens Plaza:
    • During the day and evening, take the .
    • Overnight, use nearby Queensboro Plaza  or take free Q96 shuttle buses, which are running between Court Sq-23 St  and 21 St-Queensbridge , stopping at Queens Plaza.

 trains, Brooklyn and Queens

 trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • For service between 121 St and Crescent St, free J90 shuttle buses are running between Jamaica Van-Wyck  and Crescent St, making all  stops between 121 St and Crescent St.
    • When exiting the subway at Jamaica-Van Wyck or Crescent St, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For service to/from Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport, take the .
  • For service to JFK Airport , take the  to Howard Beach-JFK Airport or the ​ to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport​.
  •  trains are running between Crescent St and Broad St.

 trains, Manhattan

 trains aren't running between 8 Av and 14 St-Union Sq in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of accessibility work.

  • For service between 8 Av, 6 Av, and 14 St-Union Sq, take free L92 shuttle buses or the M14.
    • When exiting the subway at these stations, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  •  trains are running between 14 St-Union Sq and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

 trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

 trains aren't running between 34 St-Herald Sq and Prospect Park in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • For service between 34 St-Herald Sq and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, take  trains.
  • For service between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Prospect Park, take free Q90 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations and stopping at 7 Av.
  • For direct service between Manhattan/Downtown Brooklyn and Coney Island, take  trains.
  •  trains are running in two sections, every 10 minutes during the day and evening:
    • Between 96 St and 34 St-Herald Square.
    • Between Prospect Park and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
    • When exiting the subway at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr or Prospect Park, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
    • Overnight,  trains aren't stopping at 49 St in either direction. For service to/from this station, take the .

Other subway service changes

 trains, the Bronx

Woodlawn-bound  and Burnside Av-bound  trains aren't stopping at 138 St-Grand Concourse from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Manhattan-bound train.

 trains, Queens

Flushing-bound  trains are making express stops from 74 St-Broadway to Mets-Willets Point from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.
  • At Junction Blvd, all trains are stopping at the Manhattan-bound platform.
  • At Mets-Willets Point, all trains are stopping at the Flushing-bound platform.
  • Starting at 10 p.m. on Sunday, Flushing-bound trains will resume stopping at 111 St.
  •  trains are running every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

 trains, Brooklyn

Coney Island-bound  trains aren't stopping from 9 Av to 62 St from 5:45 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.

 trains, Brooklyn

Manhattan-bound  trains aren't stopping at Avenue U from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Coney Island-bound train.

 trains, Brooklyn

Manhattan-bound  trains aren't stopping at Lorimer St from 11:45 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Canarsie-bound train, or use nearby Bedford Av or Graham Av stations.

Canarsie-bound  trains aren't stopping at Lorimer St from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Manhattan-bound train, or use nearby Graham Av or Bedford Av stations.
