Subway and rail service changes: March 14-17, 2025

There are service changes on the subway and LIRR this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Friday! Tomorrow may be the Ides of March, but there's no need to beware, because we have all your weekend service changes right here.

Bus riders take note: On Sunday, there will be bus detours in Manhattan and Brooklyn because of street closures for the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon. And if you're heading to the race, be sure to leave extra travel time if your trip is affected by one of the service changes below.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a handy map):

  •   trains aren't running between Woodlawn and 161 St-Yankee Stadium.
  •   trains aren't running between Pelham Bay Park and Hunts Point Av.
  •   trains aren't running between Queensboro Plaza and 34 St-Hudson Yards.
  •   trains aren't running between Inwood-207 St and 168 St.
  •   trains aren't running between 168 St and 145 St.
  •   Staten Island Railway isn't running between Huguenot and Tottenville.

Major subway service changes

  trains, the Bronx

  trains aren't running between Woodlawn and 161 St-Yankee Stadium in either direction from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement.

  • For service between 161 St-Yankee Stadium and Bedford Park Blvd, use nearby ​  stations along Grand Concourse.
  • For service between Bedford Park Blvd-Lehman College and Woodlawn, take free shuttle buses, which are running between Bedford Park Blvd   and Woodlawn, stopping at Bedford Park Blvd-Lehman College and Mosholu Pkwy.
  •   trains are running between 161 St-Yankee Stadium and Brooklyn.

  trains, the Bronx

  trains aren't running between Pelham Bay Park and Hunts Point Av in either direction from 9:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of accessibility work.

  • For service between Pelham Bay Park and Hunts Point Av, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all   stops.
  •   trains are running between Hunts Point Av and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

  trains, Manhattan and Queens

  trains aren't running between Queensboro Plaza and 34 St-Hudson Yards in either direction from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday because of drainage work.

  • For service between Queens and Manhattan, take       trains.
    • Transfer at 74 St-Broadway/Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av      or Queensboro Plaza    .
    • Special weekend   service is running between Astoria-Ditmars Blvd and 34 St-Herald Sq every 20 minutes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
  • For service to/from 34 St-Hudson Yards, take the M34-SBS bus during the day and evening.
    • Overnight, take free Q92 shuttle buses, which are running between Times Sq-42 St and 34 St-Hudson Yards.
  • For service between Queensboro Plaza and Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av, take free Q93 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all   stops.
  •   42 St Shuttle trains are running all weekend, including overnight.
  •   trains are running between Flushing-Main St and Queensboro Plaza, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.
  • Flushing-bound   trains are running express from 74 St-Broadway to Mets-Willets Point from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement.
    • At Junction Blvd, all trains are stopping at the Manhattan-bound platform.
    • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Queensboro Plaza-bound train.

   trains, Manhattan

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  •   trains aren't running between Inwood-207 St and 168 St in either direction.
    •   trains are running between 168 St and Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd or Howard Beach-JFK Airport. 
  •   trains aren't running between 168 St and 145 St in either direction.
    •   trains are running between 145 St and Euclid Av. At 145 St,   trains are stopping at the lower level   platform.

This is because of track maintenance.

  • For service between Inwood-207 St and 168 St, use nearby   stops or take free shuttle buses, which are running along two routes:
    • Broadway shuttle buses are running between Inwood-207 St and 168 St.
    • Fort Washington Av shuttle buses are running between 190 St and 168 St.
  • For local service between 168 St and 145 St, take the  , which is running local between these stations all weekend.

  Staten Island Railway

Staten Island Railway trains aren't running between Huguenot and Tottenville in either direction from 1:15 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday.

  • For service between Huguenot and Tottenville, take free shuttle buses, which are making all stops between these stations.
  • Staten Island Railway trains are running between St George and Huguenot.

Other subway service changes

     trains, Manhattan

From 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  •    trains are running local in both directions between 96 St and 72 St.
  • During the day and evening,   trains are running every 8 minutes and    trains are running every 12 minutes while     trains share the local track.

This is because of track replacement.

  trains, the Bronx

Manhattan-bound   trains are running express from Wakefield-241 St to E 180 St, stopping only at Gun Hill Rd, from 5:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. This is because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Wakefield-bound train.
  • At Gun Hill Rd, all trains are stopping at the Wakefield-bound platform.

   trains, Brooklyn

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Euclid Av-bound   and Queens-bound   local trains aren't stopping at Ralph Av and Rockaway Av because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound local train.

   trains, Brooklyn

   trains are running local in both directions between DeKalb Av and 36 St all weekend because of structural maintenance.

   trains, Queens

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday, Jamaica-bound   trains aren't stopping at 169 St and Sutphin Blvd and Jamaica Center-bound   and Jamaica-bound   trains aren't stopping at Briarwood. This is because of electrical work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.

  trains, Brooklyn

Manhattan-bound   trains aren't stopping from Broadway Junction to Myrtle Av from 5:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Queens-bound train.

  trains, Manhattan

8 Av-bound   trains aren't stopping at 6 Av from 11:45 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Brooklyn-bound train.

Brooklyn-bound   trains aren't stopping at 6 Av from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, take an 8 Av-bound train.

Long Island Rail Road service changes

Ronkonkoma Branch

Trains aren't running between Deer Park and Greenport in either direction from 10:30 p.m. Friday to 2:15 a.m. Monday because of switch replacement.

  • Normal service is running between Manhattan and Farmingdale, with hourly trains continuing to Deer Park. Transfer at Deer Park to/from buses, which are replacing trains between Deer Park and Greenport.
  • Consider using the Montauk or Port Jefferson branches to avoid busing.
  • The last train to Ronkonkoma departs Penn Station at 9:01 p.m. on Friday.
