Subway and rail service changes: February 21-24, 2025

There are service changes on the subway and LIRR this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Friday and welcome to the last weekend in February! Spring is right around the corner.

If you're traveling to JFK airport  this weekend, note that ​ trains aren't running to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport. Take the ​ to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport or the ​ to Howard Beach-JFK Airport.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a handy map):

  •  trains aren't running between Jackson Av and 149 St-Grand Concourse Sunday morning, and are running in two sections.
  •  trains aren't running between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Crown Heights-Utica Av or New Lots Av.
  •  trains aren't running between Grand Central-42 St and Bowling Green.
  •  trains aren't running between Queensboro Plaza and 34 St-Hudson Yards.
  •  trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St.
  •  trains aren't running at all.
  •  Staten Island Railway isn't running between Huguenot and Tottenville.

Major subway service changes

 trains, the Bronx and Manhattan

 trains aren't running between Jackson Av and 149 St-Grand Concourse in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday.

  •  trains are running in two sections:
    • Between Wakefield-241 St and Jackson Av.
    • Between 149 St-Grand Concourse and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College.
  • For service between Jackson Av and 149 St-Grand Concourse, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations and stopping at 3 Av-149 St.
    • When exiting the subway at Jackson Av or 149 St-Grand Concourse, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  •  trains aren't running between E 180 St and Grand Central-42 St until noon on Sunday.

 trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  •  trains aren't running between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Crown Heights-Utica Av or New Lots Av in either direction.
    •  trains are running local between Woodlawn and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall.
  •  trains aren't running between Grand Central-42 St and Bowling Green in either direction.
    •  trains are running every 12 minutes between Eastchester-Dyre Av and Grand Central-42 St during the day and evening.

This is because of station work.

  • For service between Grand Central-42 St and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall, take  trains.
  • For service to Fulton St, Wall St, and Bowling Green, use nearby  or  stations.
  • For service between Borough Hall and Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College, take  trains.
  • For service between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and New Lots Av, take the , which is running to/from New Lots Av all weekend, including overnight.

 trains, Manhattan and Queens

 trains aren't running between Queensboro Plaza and 34 St-Hudson Yards in either direction from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday because of drainage work.

  • For service between Queens and Manhattan, take  trains.
    • Transfer at 74 St-Broadway/Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av  or Queensboro Plaza .
    • Special weekend  service is running between Astoria-Ditmars Blvd and 34 St-Herald Sq every 20 minutes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
  • For service to/from 34 St-Hudson Yards, take the M34-SBS bus.
  • Free shuttle buses are also running along two routes:
    • Q93, making all  stops between Queensboro Plaza and Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av.
    • Q92, overnight only between Times Sq-42 St and 34 St-Hudson Yards.
  •  42 St Shuttle trains are running all weekend, including overnight.
  •  trains are running between Flushing-Main St and Queensboro Plaza, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.
    • Flushing-bound  trains aren't stopping from 74 St-Broadway to Junction Blvd from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement. For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Queensboro Plaza-bound train.

 trains, Brooklyn and Queens

 trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • For service between 121 St and Crescent St, free J90 shuttle buses are running between Jamaica Van-Wyck  and Crescent St, making all  stops between 121 St and Crescent St.
    • When exiting the subway at Jamaica-Van Wyck or Crescent St, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For service to/from Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport, take the .
  • For service to JFK Airport , take the  to Howard Beach-JFK Airport or the ​ to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport​.
  •  trains are running between Crescent St and Broad St.

 trains, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens

 trains aren't running from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural work.

  • For service between Middle Village-Metropolitan Av and Myrtle Av, take free M90 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all  stops.
    • When exiting the subway at Myrtle Av or Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For service between Myrtle Av and Delancey St-Essex St, take  trains.

 Staten Island Railway

Staten Island Railway trains aren't running between Huguenot and Tottenville in either direction from 1:15 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday.

  • For service between Huguenot and Tottenville, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all stops.
  • Staten Island Railway trains are running between St George and Huguenot.

Other subway service changes

 trains, the Bronx

Woodlawn-bound  trains aren't stopping at 138 St-Grand Concourse from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Manhattan-bound train.

Manhattan-bound  trains aren't stopping at Mosholu Pkwy and Bedford Park Blvd-Lehman College from 6:45 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Woodlawn-bound train.

 trains, the Bronx

Manhattan-bound  trains aren't stopping at Parkchester from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of accessibility work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Parkchester-bound train.

 trains, Manhattan

Downtown  and  local trains are running express from 168 St to 125 St from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from these stations, take an uptown local train.

 trains, Manhattan

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  • Uptown  and  local trains are running express from Canal St to 59 St-Columbus Circle.
  • Uptown  trains are running express from Canal St to 34 St-Penn Station.

This is because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from Spring St and 23 St, take a downtown local train.
  • For service to/from 50 St, take the .

Long Island Rail Road service changes

Far Rockaway and Long Beach branches

Trains aren't stopping at Locust Manor, Laurelton, or Rosedale from 11:15 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday because of accessibility work.

  • For service to/from these stations, take buses, which are running hourly between Jamaica, Locust Manor, Laurelton, Rosedale, and Valley Stream.
