Subway and rail service changes: April 4-7, 2025

There are service changes on the subway, LIRR, and Metro-North this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.

Happy Friday and welcome to the first weekend in April!

If you're traveling to JFK airport  this weekend, note that  ​ trains aren't running to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport all weekend and the AirTrain JFK isn't running to/from Howard Beach and is replaced by free shuttle buses from 11 p.m. Saturday to 2 p.m. Sunday. For AirTrain service, take the   to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport or the LIRR to Jamaica.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a handy map):

  •    trains aren't running between Crown Heights-Utica Av and New Lots Av.
  •   trains aren't running between Hunts Point Av and 125 St.
  • Jamaica-bound   trains are running on the   from 2 Av to Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av.
  • Downtown   trains are running on the   from W 4 St-Washington Sq to 2 Av.
  •   trains aren't running between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Church Av, and are running in two sections.
  •   trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St.

Major subway service changes

   trains, Brooklyn

   trains aren't running between Crown Heights-Utica Av and New Lots Av in either direction from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of station work.

  • For service between Crown Heights-Utica Av and New Lots Av, take free B99 shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all    stops.
  •   trains are running between Harlem-148 St and Crown Heights-Utica Av during the day and evening.
  •   trains are running between Woodlawn and Crown Heights-Utica Av at all times.

  trains, the Bronx

  trains aren't running between Hunts Point Av and 125 St in either direction from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  •   trains are running in two sections:
    • Between Pelham Bay Park and Hunts Point Av, every 12 minutes during the day and evening.
    • Between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and 125 St and on the   to/from 149 St-Grand Concourse, every 8 minutes during the day and evening. Uptown trains aren't stopping at 138 St-Grand Concourse.
  • For service between Hunts Point Av and 125 St, take free shuttle buses, which are running between these stations making all   stops.
    • When exiting the subway at Hunts Point Av or 125 St, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.

    trains, Manhattan and Queens

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  • Jamaica Center-bound   trains are running on the   from 2 Av to Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av.
  • Uptown   and   local trains are running express from Canal St to 59 St-Columbus Circle.
  • Downtown   trains are running on the   from W 4 St-Washington Sq to 2 Av.

This is because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from Queens Plaza:
    • During the day and evening, take the  .
    • Overnight, take free Q96 shuttle buses, which are running between Court Sq-23 St and 21 St-Queensbridge, stopping at Queens Plaza. When exiting the subway at Court Sq-23 St, Queens Plaza, or 21 St-Queensbridge, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
    • Or, use nearby Queensboro Plaza   .
  • For service to/from Court Sq, take the  .
  • For service to/from Lexington Av/53 St, use nearby Lexington Av/59 St   .
  • For service to/from 5 Av/53 St, use nearby   stations at 57 St or 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr.
  • For service to/from 7 Av, take the  .
  • For service to/from 50 St and 23 St, take a downtown train or use nearby   stations along 6 Av.
  • For service to/from 42 St-Port Authority Bus Terminal, 34 St-Penn Station, 14 St, Canal St, and World Trade Center (Chambers St), take    trains.
  • For service to/from Spring St, take a downtown   or   local train.

   trains, Brooklyn

From 9:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  •   trains aren't running between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Church Av in either direction, and are running in two sections:
    • Between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs.
    • Between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Hoyt-Schermerhorn, every 20 minutes.
  • Coney Island-bound   trains are running express from Jay St-MetroTech to Kings Hwy.

This is because of electrical work.

  • For service to/from 7 Av and Church Av, take the  .
  • For local service to    stations between Bergen St and Church Av and   stations between Church Av and Kings Hwy, take a Manhattan-bound  .
  • To connect between   and   trains, take    trains between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Jay St-MetroTech.

  trains, Brooklyn and Queens

  trains aren't running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of station work.

  • For service between 121 St and Crescent St, free J90 shuttle buses are running between Jamaica Van-Wyck   and Crescent St, making all   stops between 121 St and Crescent St.
    • When exiting the subway at Jamaica-Van Wyck or Crescent St, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For service to/from Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport, take the  .
  • For service to JFK Airport , take the  ​ to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport​ or the LIRR to Jamaica.
  •   trains are running between Crescent St and Broad St.

From 4:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday, Manhattan-bound   trains are running nonstop from Broadway Junction to Myrtle Av because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Crescent St-bound train.

Other subway service changes

    trains, Manhattan

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  • Downtown   trains are running nonstop from 145 St to 96 St.
  • Downtown   and   local trains aren't stopping at 86 St or 79 St.

This is because of accessibility work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take an uptown train.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, downtown   and   local trains are running nonstop from 14 St to Chambers St because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take an uptown train.

Durning the day and evening,   trains are running every 8 minutes and    trains are running every 12 minutes while     trains share the express track in Manhattan.

    trains, Brooklyn

Manhattan-bound    and   local trains aren't stopping at Eastern Pkwy-Brooklyn Museum from 11:45 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Flatbush Av-bound   or Crown Heights-bound   or   local train. Or, use nearby Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College or Grand Army Plaza stations.

Flatbush Av-bound   and Crown Heights-bound   and   local trains aren't stopping at Eastern Pkwy-Brooklyn Museum from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Manhattan-bound    or   local train. Or, use nearby Grand Army Plaza or Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College stations.

   trains, the Bronx

Manhattan-bound   trains aren't stopping at Jackson Av from 4:45 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday and   trains aren't running between E 180 St and Bowling Green until 10 a.m. Sunday. This is because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from Jackson Av, take a Wakefield-bound train.

  trains, the Bronx

Woodlawn-bound   trains aren't stopping at Bedford Park Blvd-Lehman College or Mosholu Pkwy from 5:45 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.

  trains, the Bronx

Norwood-bound   trains aren't stopping at 170 St or 174-175 Sts from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural work.

  • For service to/from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.

    trains, Queens

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday:

  • Forest Hills-bound   trains are running express from Queens Plaza to Forest Hills-71 Av.
  • Jamaica-bound    local trains are running express from 21 St-Queensbridge to Forest Hills-71 Av.

This is because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.

  trains, Manhattan

Broad St-bound   trains aren't stopping at Bowery from 11:45 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday because of station work.

  •  For service to/from this station, take a Brooklyn-bound train or use nearby Canal St or Delancey St-Essex St stations.

Brooklyn-bound   trains aren't stopping at Bowery from 11:45 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday because of station work.

  • For service to/from this station, take a Broad St-bound train or use nearby Delancey St-Essex St or Canal St stations.

    trains, Manhattan

Uptown    and   local trains are running express from Canal St to 34 St-Herald Sq from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a downtown train.

Long Island Rail Road service changes

Babylon Branch

Babylon Branch trains are running on a reduced schedule from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Monday because of switch replacement.

  • Trains are running between Penn Station and Babylon. For service to/from Grand Central, transfer at Jamaica.
  • Many Montauk Branch trains are extended to/from Jamaica to provide additional service at Babylon.
  • Use Schedules or TrainTime to plan your trip.

West Hempstead Branch

West Hempstead Branch trains aren't running between Valley Stream and West Hempstead in either direction from 12 a.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Monday because of crossing rehabilitation.

  • For service between Valley Stream and West Hempstead, take shuttle buses.
  • For service to/from St. Albans, take Babylon Branch trains, which are stopping at this station.
  • West Hempstead Branch trains are running between Grand Central and Valley Stream.
  • Use Schedules or TrainTime to plan your trip.

Metro-North Railroad service changes

New Canaan Branch

Trains aren't running between Stamford and New Canaan Saturday and Sunday because of track work.

Port Jervis Line

Trains aren't running between Suffern and Port Jervis from 12:30 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday because of track work and bridge maintenance.

  • Buses connect Ramsey-Route 17 station with all stops between Sloatsburg and Port Jervis.
  • For service to Hoboken and New York from Otisville and Salisbury Mills, consider using nearby Middletown or Harriman stations instead.
    • Only local bus service, which does not connect with trains at Ramsey-Route 17, is available at Otisville and Salisbury Mills.
  • Trains are running between Hoboken and Suffern on a modified schedule with no express trains.
