Responsibilities: Performs general heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) work at MaBSTOA bus depots, shops and facilities. Install, clean, adjust, overhaul, repair and inspect (i) air conditioners and components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, fans, motors, electrical and electronic controls and valves, (ii) boilers, furnaces and components such as boiler sections, monitoring equipment, heaters, radiators, piping, pumps, motors, electrical and electronic controls and valves. Braze pipe. Keep records and prepare reports. Perform related work.
Exper. & Educ.: Four years of satisfactory experience working from schematics, performing installation, inspection, testing, repair and maintenance of: industrial, commercial and/or domestic air conditioning units; or heating systems in buildings; or electronic controls and wiring for such equipment, or a satisfactory equivalent. Training or education in air conditioning, refrigeration, heating, electronic technology and/or electrical installations may be substituted for up to two years of the above experience. However, all candidates must have at least two years of the above work experience to qualify. English Requirement: Candidates must be able to understand and be understood in English. License Requirement: At the time of appointment, you must possess a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. Serious moving violations, license suspension or accident record may disqualify. The license must be maintained for the duration of employment. Practical Test: A qualifying practical test may be administered to applicants prior to appointment. Please Note: MaBSTOA expects vacancies in this title to be very limited. Responsibilities: Under supervision, you will maintain, inspect, test alter and repair electro-mechanical equipment in NYC Transit elevated and surface stations and facilities. Transit Electro Mechanical Maintainers work in Ventilation and Drainage, Heating and Air Conditioning and Elevator and Escalator Maintenance
Exper. & Educ.: Two years of experience in electro-mechanical equipment installation, maintenance and repair plus (1) a trade/vocational of Associate degree in electrical, mechanical or electronic technology or (2) two years of Helper, apprentice or trainee experience as described above. Driver License Requirement: At the time of appointment, you must possess a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. If you have moving violations, license suspension, or an accident record, you may be disqualified. If hired you must take and pass an examination and be appointed from an eligible list to obtain permanent civil service status.
