Responsibilities: You will maintain and repair electromechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment used in the construction, maintenance and repair of railroad tracks.

Exper. & Educ.: Three years of full-time satisfactory journey-level (fully trained mechanic) experience performing the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment typically used in construction or on tracks - such as cranes, compressors, track lubricators, tampers, drills, pile drivers, pay loaders, earthmovers, tractors, gasoline and diesel engines, hi-los, forklifts, and conveyors, including gasoline and diesel engines or large transportation vehicles such as trucks, buses, marine vessels or aircraft AND For the above journey-level experience to be credited, it must be preceded by one of the following: (1) two years of helper/trainee experience as listed above; or (2) graduation from a vocational high school, or a post-secondary trade or technical school, or college with a major in the electrical or mechanical fields. Driver License Requirement: You must have either: 1. A Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) valid in the State of New York and no restrictions; or 2. Exper. & Educ.: Three years of full-time experience as a journey-level mechanic troubleshooting and repairing automotive or aircraft engines and electrical systems, and at least one other automotive or aircraft system, such as brake, transmission, or HVAC; plus one year of experience as a supervisor supervising full-time paid journey-level mechanics performing the duties described above. Supervisory experience must include the following administrative duties: planning, organizing, and scheduling work; monitoring time and attendance; evaluating performance; and enforcing disciplinary and safety rules and regulations. Exper. & Educ.: Three years of full-time experience as a journey-level mechanic (i.e., a fully trained, knowledgeable, experienced, proficient and competent mechanic) repairing passenger automobiles, trucks, buses or aircraft. Desired Skills: SALARY: Rates vary by depot as follows: Far Rockaway, JFK and Spring Creek- The current minimum salary is $20.0515 Per Hour for a 40 hour work week. This rate increases to $28.6450 after 36 months at the Far Rockaway and JFK Depots and after 48 months at the Spring Creek Depot. Baisley Park, College Point, Eastchester, LaGuardia and Yonkers- The current minimum salary is $22.31 Per Hour for a 40 hour work week. This rate increases to $31.8725 after 36 months.

Exper. & Educ.: • Two years of journey level experience in the Installation, repair and maintenance of industrial, commercial or domestic air conditioning units or commercial refrigeration equipment or heating systems in buildings and the electrical controls and wring for such equipment OR; • Two years of journey level experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of heavy duty electro mechanical equipment such as pumps, ventilating fans, air compressors, sewage ejectors, cranes and related electro-mechanical controls or motors OR; • Two years of journey level experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of heavy duty electrical equipment such as generators, motors, rectifiers and transformers OR; • Two years of journey level experience in the maintenance, overhaul and installation of heavy duty pneumatic or hydraulic equipment, gasoline or diesel engines and their components OR; • Two years of journey level experience in the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of elevator and escalators and their components. The two years of journey-level electro mechanical experience must be preceded by either: • An Associate’s degree OR vocational high school/trade or technical school degree/diploma with a major in electro-mechanical, electrical, or electronic technology (totaling 600 hours or more) OR; • Two additional years of full-time experience as a mechanic’s helper, apprentice or trainee. Driver License Requirement: At the time of appointment, you must possess a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. If you have moving violations, license suspension, or an accident record you may be disqualified.
