Responsibilities: The selected candidates will perform a variety of functions including: assisting in the prevention and detection of vandalism, carrying out fare enforcement, (including issuing of summonses), assist in the development and implementation of strategies to combat both vandalism and fare evasion (based upon continuous analysis of trends, statistical data and system vulnerabilities), and assist in the investigations of property crimes. The selected candidates will be required to work flexible hours, including nights, holidays and weekends and will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions. The selected candidates will be required to work in adverse conditions, e.g., in bus depots, train yards, subway tunnels and at other Agency facilities.
Exper. & Educ.: 1. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and two years of full-time experience as an investigator, of which one year must have been as an investigator in the field; or 2. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above.
Desired Skills: Ten years experience in Law Enforcement, Security, and/or Counter Terrorism/ Intelligence (Military or Law Enforcement) is preferable. Knowledge and experience relating to the enforcement of fare evasion, and the issuance of summonses. Knowledge of Penal Law relating to property crime, vandalism, use of force and fare evasion in the transportation industry. Possession of a valid New York State Armed Guard License and a valid New York State pistol permit are desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience utilizing Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel).
