Responsibilities: This position is responsible for conducting bus accident investigations on a 24 hour, 365 day per year basis to determine causes, contributing factors and corrective actions to eliminate or significantly reduce the potential for future accidents. This position requires the preparation of comprehensive accident reports which may involve the investigation of aspects of MTA and NYCT Department of Buses activities, including but not limited to: personnel, training, operations and maintenance of equipment. This position requires working various tours to ensure 24 hour/7 day a week coverage.

Exper. & Educ.: 1. A minimum of five (5) years satisfactory experience in the inspection, repair and maintenance of various model buses within the NYCT and MTA Bus Company; a minimum of two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory position. 2. A thorough geographical knowledge of all five boroughs and surrounding areas that may encompass MTA Bus operating areas. Knowledge of NYCT Department of Buses and/or MTA Bus Company operations and organization is required along with an understanding of safety policies, rules and current labor contracts and agreements or; 3. A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience.

Desired Skills: The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate competency in written and oral communications. Must be able to identify trends and make sound recommendations to prevent reoccurrence. Successful completion of basic and intermediate accident investigation courses following appointment to this position is mandatory. Strong computer skills are required with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft. Knowledge of Midas, Spear programs and other bus maintenance procedures are highly desired.
