West of Hudson Regional Transit Access Study Public Involvement |
|||
Throughout the West of Hudson Regional Transit Access Alternatives Analysis Study, we will conduct extensive public and community outreach. Relationship with Newburgh Area Transportation & Land Use Study The West of Hudson Regional Transit Access Study is not part of the ongoing Newburgh Area Transportation & Land Use Study. That study, is sponsored by the Orange County Transportation Council (OCTC), the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the county, with staff support from the Orange County Planning Department (in coordination with NYS Department of Transportation Region 8). The Study, financed with FHWA and FTA funds, is a comprehensive, inter-municipal and inter-agency examination of transportation, land use and related systems in the Newburgh Area. The Primary Study Area includes the City of Newburgh and the four nearby towns of Newburgh, New Windsor, Montgomery and Cornwall and the villages of Walden, Montgomery, Maybrook and Cornwall-on-Hudson. The Study will examine growth and development in several corridors: US Route 9W; Broadway / NY Route 17K; sections of NY Routes 300, 207, 52 and 32; and the Vails Gate area. Public Open House The project sponsor, the MTA Metro-North Railroad with study partners held an Open House on July 20, 2010 in Orange County to present initial consultants recommendations for a short list of alternatives to advance to the next phase of the study. The goal of this study is to identify a preferred alternative(s) that will provide improved transit services between central Orange County to Manhattan, as well as improved transit access to Stewart International Airport. Related material presented at the open house Tuesday, July 20, 20104:00 PM to 8:00pm Hilton Garden Inn 15 Crossroads Court (off Route 17K) Click here for more information The project staff welcomes your questions, comments and ideas.
