MTA Metro-North Railroad Provides Direct Train Service to the Yankees-Angels Playoffs
Rain or shine, Metro-North will provide plenty of direct train service to the new Yankees-E. 153rd Street Station for the playoff home-stand between the Yankees and the Angels. Games are this Friday and Saturday nights at 7:57 p.m.
And if there is a rain-out, the railroad has developed several schedules for a make-up game Sunday, depending on what time it is played. If a game is played Sunday at 8 PM, the Saturday train schedule will be used. Details will be posted on the website: http://www.mta.info/mnr/html/yankee_service.htm
If either day's game is delayed due to weather, the railroad will simply hold the post-game trains as was done for delays during the regular season.
The railroad is expecting between 5,000 and 6,000 fans to take Metro-North to each game, although predicted bad weather may depress ridership.
To accommodate the crowds for playoff games, there will be pre-game direct trains from the Harlem and New Haven Lines, as well as additional game service on the Hudson Line.
Shuttle Service between Grand Central, 125th and the stadium will operate every 10 to 15 during the peak travel periods before and after the games. During the game, the shuttle will operate every 30 minutes.
For Friday's game, all southbound Hudson Line trains between 5 p.m. and 2 a.m. will stop at Yankees-E. 153rd Street; this includes half-hourly service from Poughkeepsie and the Upper Hudson Line. Two extra express trains will operate out of Croton-Harmon, with a 5:35 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. departures. The 5:35 will stop at Tarrytown before arriving at the stadium at 6:05; the 6:30 will stop at Ossining, Tarrytown, and Yonkers, arriving at the stadium at 7:03 p.m. Check the schedule for detailed schedules.
After the games, all northbound Hudson Line trains between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. will stop at Yankees-E. 153rd Street Station. In addition, there will be two extra trains, one making all stops to Croton-Harmon and one express to Croton-Harmon and then local to Poughkeepsie.
On the Harlem Line, there will be on extra train to the game departing Southeast at 6:10 p.m., making all stops to Mount Vernon West. After the game, there will be two direct trains, one express to White Plains, then local to Southeast and another making all local stops from Mount Vernon West to White Plains.
On the New Haven Line, there will be two pre-game direct trains to Yankees-E.153rd Street, departing New Haven at 4:18 p.m. and 5:25 p.m. The first train makes key stops to Stamford and then goes express to the stadium. The second train also will make stops at Greenwich, Rye and New Rochelle. After the game, there will be four extra trains, two making all stops from Stamford to New Haven, one making all local stops from Mount Vernon East to Stamford. The last train will make all local stops to New Haven.
On Saturday, there will be twice as much direct service to the Yankees-E. 153rd Street Station on the Harlem and New Haven Lines and as much on the Hudson Line, which includes Yankees-E. 153rd Street Station as a regular Bronx local stop.
