Carl V. Wortendyke*

Carl V. Wortendyke is a principal of Cal Mart Construction, a firm whose primary businesses are the construction of bridges and dams, blasting, and site and utility work. The company has offices in West Nyack and Florida, New York. He founded the firm with two of his brothers in 1972. He and his brothers also own the West Nyack Car Wash.
Prior to forming Cal Mart Construction, he worked for O&R Utilities, the Nanuet National Bank, and Beckerle Brown Construction. He was also an active member of the West Nyack Fire Department.
He has served the State as a member of the New York State Board of Real Estate Appraisal and the New York State Saratoga Parks and Recreation Commission; he was appointed to both posts by Governor George E. Pataki.
Mr. Wortendyke has been an active member of his community, serving on the board of governors of both Nyack Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital, as a member of the deputy reserve patrol force of the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department, and as a member of the Rockland County Builders Association. He was named the Republican Business Man of the Year by Clarkstown, New York, in 1986; New York Humanitarian of the Year by the Epilepsy Society of Southern New York in 1996; and Rockland County Business Man of the Year in 2000. He has also worked with many other organizations, including the Boy Scouts, the Zoning Board of Appeals in Upper Nyack, New York, and the Upper Nyack Fire Department.
He attended Hiram Scott College in Nebraska.
