The match between AC Milan and Real Madrid is part of the World Football Challenge.
With this soccer match (and the one played on July 22 between Chelsea of England and Paris Saint Germain of France), the new Yankee Stadium carries on the great soccer tradition. The original Stadium played host to some of the most famous teams in world soccer. Pele, considered by many soccer aficionados to be the greatest player of all time, called Yankee Stadium home in 1976, when he played for the New York Cosmos of the North American Soccer League.
