Fun Farm


The experience

Get whisked away for a day-long celebration of the fall harvest of wine, local cheese, and apples when you step on the Dutchess County Farm Fresh Link shuttle at Poughkeepsie Station.

Your first stop is Sprout Creek Farm, a model of sustainable agriculture, also known for its artisanal cheeses lovingly produced by a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America.  Try the creamery’s mouth-watering creations made from the rich and creamy milk of the herd of grass-fed Jersey, Guernsey, Milking Shorthorn and Brown Swiss cows.  Sprout Creek’s cheeses are all about soil, seasons, grasses, and happy cows!  Sprout Creek Farm is a working farm encompassing 200 acres, raising free-range cows, sheep, goats, wild turkeys, guinea fowl, chickens and pigs.  You will have a chance to shop for their award-winning cheeses and farm-produced meats in the market, which also offers eggs, vegetables and gifts.

Fun Farm

At  your second stop, explore the charming Village of Millbrook.  Known for its rolling hills and horse farms, Millbrook is also home to many eateries, gift shops and antique stores.  On Saturdays, you’ll also be able to meander the Millbrook Farmer’s Market twenty vendors featuring their delicious, locally-grown produce and fine food specialties.  Take advantage of one the many cafes to buy a picnic lunch that you can enjoy at the winery or in the Millbrook Tribute Garden.

Fun Farm

(September 28-29, October 5-6 and 19-20 only) Your third stop is Clinton Vineyards, award-winning producer of fine wines, champagnes and hand-crafted dessert wines, where you'll will tour the vineyards and enjoy the spectacular landscape and a wine tasting including champagnes, white wine, dessert wine and their world famous Cassis. The tasting will be held in the historic 1850’s barn which houses the wine-making facility.  Enjoy a stroll around the magnificent estate grounds.  (Tasting fee is $8 per person and is in addition to the package price). 

(October 12 & 13 only) Your third stop, it’s wine tasting and scenic views at one of the Hudson Valley’s premier wineries,Millbrook Vineyards & Winery.  Located in a renovated Dutch-hip dairy barn with views of its 130-acre estate, Millbrook produces high-caliber wines using classical French and Italian wine-making techniques.  Take a guided tour and enjoy a tasting at this award-winning winery.  (Tasting fee is $8 per person and is in addition to the package price)

Fun Farm

 

 

Your last stop is Barton Orchards, a family-owned farm with pick your own apples and family entertainment, country store, small animals, and plenty of activities.  General admission is $3, and includes hayrides which run through the orchard and pumpkin field, walking trail, petting zoo, and playground.  Awesome family theme park activities available for a small fee, gps corn maze, gigantic inflatable kid zone and mesmerizing labyrinths. Walk the picturesque grounds and pick over a dozen varieties of apples.

IN ORDER TO SECURE YOUR SEAT ON THE BUS, RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE AT LEAST 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE BY CALLING 800-445-3131. Tours frequently sell out.  Once you have made your reservation, purchase your rail/bus ticket from at any Metro-North ticket office or full-service ticket machine (excluding Poughkeepsie Station) or through WebTicket. WebTicket purchase must be made at least 5 business days in advance of your travel date.
