Outdoor events are still very much in evidence on Long Island in September. Music, maritime events and festivals are just some of the offerings. Family Travel Tip: The LIRR Family Fare allows up to four children, ages 5-11, to travel for 75 cents each way on off-peak trains when accompanied by an adult; children-under-5 ride free.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is the former home of John S. Phipps, his wife, Margarita Grace Phipps and their four children. Completed in 1906 by the English designer, George A. Crawley, the magnificent Charles II-style mansion is nestled amid 200 acres of formal gardens, landscaped grounds, woodlands, ponds and lakes. Westbury House is furnished with fine English antiques and decorative arts from the more than fifty years of the family's residence.

The Long Beach Public Library presents the 8th Annual Jazz Festival. Live music at the library and various restaurants.

The Annual Antique Motorcycle Show will include a display of various makes and models of motorcycles that have been out of production for 10 years or more. Music, farmhouse tours, hay rides, petting zoo and food will provide fun for the entire family. The Queens County Fair has all the trappings of a country fair including children's games, entertainment, colonial cooking demonstrations, blue ribbon events. There is an additional charge for some events and the 2.5-acre corn maze. Enjoy getting lost in our 2.5-acre interactive corn maze. The adventure begins with a stalk talk to prepare you for the challenge of finding clues, solving puzzles and making your way out of the maze.

The Sagtikos Manor was built in 1697, and expanded in 1772 and 1902. The estate served as headquarters for the British Army on Long Island for a brief time during the Revolutionary War. President George Washington stayed there during his tour of Long Island in 1790.
