New Discount Fares to Long Island MacArthur Airport

For travelers headed to Long Island MacArthur Airport, MTA Long Island Rail Road is offering a new discount ticket package that can get you to the airport terminal door for $7-$14 ($6 to $11 for seniors). The LIRR's special MacArthur package includes rail ticket and van transportation from Ronkonkoma Station.
"Leave the car at home and let the LIRR eliminate all the highway hassles usually associated with the trip," said LIRR President Helena Williams. "The Railroad is pleased to offer this discount package and introduce more New Yorkers to the advantages of Long Island MacArthur Airport."
Long Island MacArthur is a popular departure point for travelers taking
Southwest Airlines and US Airways Express to destinations across the United
States with 10 direct routes and connections to most major cities.
"Long Island MacArthur is already the 'no hassle' alternative to other
airports in the metropolitan area," said Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan.
"The Railroad's new package will make it even more convenient to get to
and from MacArthur."
"More and more leisure and business travelers from Nassau County and New York City are discovering the advantages of using Long Island MacArthur Airport. This discount package offers one more advantage: an easy, low-cost alternative to traffic," said Commissioner of Aviation Teresa Rizzuto.
The discount package includes one-way rail transportation to or from Ronkonkoma Station and a quick ride (1.5 miles) on a Colonial Transportation Shuttle to and from the airport. Customer's using the special MacArthur package ticket simply hand your LIRR ticket stub to a Colonial driver.
This package is not available at the airport, so customers should purchase the tickets prior to the trip to save time and money. Since tickets are one-way, customer should purchase two in advance for round-trips.
The LIRR's MacArthur package tickets are available at ticket offices or from LIRR self-serve ticket machines under "Getaways & Packages." This ticket is good on off-peak and peak trains; customers can save up to $4.50 off regular prices.
Price Guide: Take any Ronkonkoma Branch train to/from Ronkonkoma Station, and board the Colonial Transportation Shuttle for the following package price:

Children: Package tickets are not sold. On off-peak trains, up to four children, ages 5-11, may accompany each adult for $.75 each way ($1 onboard fare); peak fares are 1/2 the price of regular adult rail fares. Children under 5 are free. Shuttle fare ($5) can be paid directly to Colonial Transportation driver for each child.

Location - Colonial Transportation Shuttle is located
on the north side (off platform A), curbside near the Dunkin' Donuts.
Hours - Shuttle operates to meet all Ronkonkoma trains.
Use the overpass - Customers arriving on the center
or south side platform can use the overpass to the north side. When traveling
from NYC/western stations, customers are advised to sit in the middle
of the train for easier access to overpass, and follow directional signage.
Airport Stops - The shuttle will pick up/drop off curbside
by baggage claim; follow the directional signs.
