LIRR Aces Transport to Barclay’s Golf Tourney August 21-26
The PGA Tour comes to Long Island in August with The Barclays at Bethpage Black. The Long Island Rail Road scores a hole-in-one with convenient, frequent service to this popular golf tournament. Spectators can go to the Farmingdale LIRR Station and pick up a special PGA-sponsored shuttle bus for transportation from the station to the golf course. Regular fares will apply for travel to Farmingdale Station.
Practice rounds begin on Tuesday, August 21 with the Pro-AM on August 22. The tournament itself will take place Thursday, August 23 - Sunday, August 26. Beginning Thursday, August 23, to accommodate golf fans, the LIRR will provide half-hourly service to and from Farmingdale Station during midday off-peak hours. Fore!
Buy Your LIRR Tickets Online for The Barclays at Bethpage Black
For the first time, LIRR customers will be able to buy their train tickets to The Barclays online and print them using a home/office printer or by downloading the ticket image on a smartphone. This mobile ticketing program is sponsored by CooCoo. Here’s a quick primer on purchasing train tickets online for this event:
- Navigate to CooCoo.com/lirrtickets on your desktop or mobile device
- Select departure station
- Choose fare type and number of tickets
- Enter e-mail address and credit card information on secure website
- Tickets containing a scannable bar code will be delivered to your e-mail address
- Print out the tickets or display them on your smartphone.
LIRR tickets to The Barclays will be checked as customers arrive at the Farmingdale Station and again when customers depart. It’s as easy as that. Enjoy!
A Tasty Getaway on a Summer Day
Long Island’s Wine Country has 40 vineyards, fun-filled festivals and an abundance of things to do. The LIRR has partnered with North Fork Express Bus to get customers to some of these exciting locations. The LIRR’s Wine Adventures Package includes discounted off-peak round-trip rail, two one-way bus vouchers and a deals coupon for special values at some of the visiting locations. In July and August, LIRR Wine Adventures will be held on Sunday, July 29, Saturday, August 11 and Sunday, August 19.
The Package includes a visit to the Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard, live entertainment, a delectable food court, wine tastings (LIRR customers receive a 10% discount off products and tastings); pony rides for the kids, a tour of the nearby rescue horse paddocks, and finally a visit to Long Island Vodka, located right next door. Mail&Ride Sweepstakes Adds Winners Monthly
Congratulations to the latest winners in the LIRR monthly Mail&Ride Sweepstakes. They are: Michael Bennet, a Rosedale commuter; John Cuffaro of Lindenhurst, and Edward Del Balso, a Farmingdale commuter. Each month, four M&R subscribers are chosen in a random drawing to win a free monthly commutation ticket. Active Mail&Ride subscribers are automatically entered into the Sweepstakes.
The contest is also open to non-Mail&Ride members, who can find entry details by consulting the LIRR website. Mail&Ride is the LIRR’s popular monthly ticket-by-mail home-delivery service, celebrating almost 40 years of service with more than 35,000 subscribers.
Track Work Impacts Ronkonkoma Branch Mid-Day Service
Through August 10
Buses are replacing midday weekday trains between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma, as the final phase of a track tie replacement program is completed. Eastbound customers for stations Pinelawn through Ronkonkoma must transfer to buses at Hicksville to complete their trips. Westbound customers from Ronkonkoma through Pinelawn board buses at their stations and transfer to trains at Hicksville.
Customers traveling from Bethpage and Farmingdale Stations will have regular train service. Please pick up a copy of the new Ronkonkoma Branch timetable dated July 23.
