New Timetables Start Monday, November 9

Includes Additional Far Rockaway Branch Friday-only Afternoon Train, Track Work Programs Affecting Mid-days, Overnight and Weekend Service on Babylon, Montauk, Long Beach and Oyster Bay Branches

New MTA Long Island Rail Road timetables go into effect Monday, November 9. The new schedules include an additional Far Rockaway Branch Friday-only afternoon train and service revisions due to mid-day, overnight and weekend track work programs.

Far Rockaway Branch
In response to customer requests, the LIRR will resume operation of a Friday-only train, starting November 13 and continuing through early March, when the sun sets early, in order to provide additional before-sundown service. Penn Station customers will catch the 2:39 PM train and connect at Jamaica. Flatbush Avenue customers should take the 2:35 PM departure. The Friday-only Jamaica connection leaves at 3:04 PM and arrives in Far Rockaway at 3:46 PM.

Babylon Branch
One of two tracks between Freeport and Wantagh will be out of service mid-day weekdays for a track tie replacement program. Eastbound trains will depart up to six minutes earlier and westbound trains will depart up to eleven minutes earlier. One of two tracks between Freeport and Amityville will be out of service overnight because of track work in the Wantagh area. Four overnight eastbound trains will depart up to 15 minutes later and their eastbound Brooklyn connections will depart up to eight minutes later.

Montauk Branch
The track between Sayville and Speonk will be out of service between 9:45 AM and 4:00 PM weekdays through November 13 for track work and grade crossing renewals at Snedicore Avenue in Bayport and at Atlantic Avenue in Patchogue. Buses will replace trains between Sayville and Speonk and customers should anticipate up to 45 minutes additional travel time. The mid-day weekday eastbound Montauk Branch train will operate 14 minutes later and one westbound Montauk train will operate six minutes earlier due to Babylon Branch track work.

Port Jefferson Branch
Track work between Carle Place and Hicksville has been completed. As a result, the 11:48 AM eastbound train from Huntington and the 11:37 AM westbound train from Port Jefferson are restored to the schedule.

Long Beach Branch
One of two tracks between Valley Stream and Island Park will be out of service on weekends as work is performed on two rail bridges in the Oceanside area. Eastbound and westbound trains will depart 16 to 17 minutes earlier.

Oyster Bay Branch
The main track between Locust Valley and Oyster Bay will be out of service on the weekends of November 14-15 and November 21-22 from 10:01 PM Friday through 2:01 AM Monday. Replacement of the Shore Road Bridge in Oyster Bay will take place at this time. Eastbound customers will board vans at Locust Valley to complete their trips. Westbound customers will board vans at Oyster Bay for service to Mineola where they will board trains to complete their trips. Customers should anticipate up to 30 minutes additional travel time. Three connecting eastbound mid-day weekday Oyster Bay Branch trains in Jamaica will depart three minutes earlier and five westbound Oyster Bay Branch trains will depart ten minutes later.
