Woodside Construction to Close Local Street and Affect Some Train Service August 15-16
The installation of a new signal bridge at the east end of the MTA Long Island Rail Road Woodside Station will result in the closing of a local street from late evening Friday, August 15 through early Saturday morning, August 16 and affect three westbound trains. The signal bridge is part of the work reconfiguring the LIRR’s Harold Interlocking to accommodate eventual LIRR access to Grand Central Terminal.
The work, which entails moving by crane the signal bridge from a parking area unto the tracks, will close Trimble Road to vehicular traffic between 63rd and 64th Streets in Woodside from 10 PM, Friday, August 15 through 6 AM, Saturday, August 16.
The 1:30 AM train from Babylon due in Penn Station at 2:51 AM will be delayed for approximately 20 minutes at Jamaica (from 2:28 AM through 2:50 AM) in order to accommodate the work. Passengers traveling to Penn Station on two connecting trains will also be delayed at Jamaica for up to 20 minutes. They are the 1:55 AM from Hempstead (arrive Jamaica at 2:28 AM) to Flatbush Avenue and the 1:50 AM from Far Rockaway (arrive Jamaica at 2:28 AM) to Penn Station.
