Buses Replace Trains October 5 West Hempstead & Far Rockaway Branches
A track and switch maintenance program in the Valley Stream area will affect train service on MTA Long Island Rail Road’s Far Rockaway and West Hempstead Branches on Sunday, October 5. Buses will replace trains on the Far Rockaway Branch, for approximately 12 hours, from 12:09 AM through 12:15 PM, October 5. Buses will replace trains on the West Hempstead Branch, for approximately 24 hours, from 12:01 AM through 11:59 PM, October 5.
Far Rockaway Branch Customers
Eastbound: Customers will board their regular eastbound trains at western terminals and transfer to buses at Valley Stream Station to complete their trips from Gibson through Far Rockaway. Customers should anticipate up to 34 minutes additional travel time.
Westbound: Customers will board buses at their stations and transfer at Valley Stream Station to a westbound Long Beach Branch train to complete their trips. Customers normally on the 12:39 AM and 1:38 AM trains from Far Rockaway will board buses at their stations and transfer to trains at Jamaica to complete their trips. Customers should anticipate up to 47 minutes additional travel time. Buses will depart Far Rockaway Branch stations from four to 41 minutes later than train times.
West Hempstead Branch Customers
Eastbound: Customers will board their regular eastbound trains at western terminals and transfer to buses at Valley Stream Station to complete their trips. Customers should anticipate up to 15 minutes additional travel time.
Westbound: Customers will board buses at their stations and transfer at Jamaica to trains to complete their trips. Customers should anticipate up to 30 minutes additional travel time. Buses will depart West Hempstead Branch stations from five to 13 minutes later than train times.
