New Timetables in Effect December 17 - Extra Service for the Holidays

New MTA Long Island Rail Road timetables are in effect starting Monday, December 17. The new schedules include the extra service provided for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

There will be eight extra afternoon trains from Penn Station on Friday, December 21 and Monday, December 24 for those leaving early for the Christmas holiday.  On Friday, December 28, there will be eight additional afternoon trains from Penn Station to serve those who are leaving early for the New Year’s holiday.  There will also be additional eastbound and westbound train service to and from Penn Station for New Year’s Eve festivities on December 31 and early January 1.  The LIRR will operate on holiday schedules Christmas Day, December 25, and New Year’s Day, January 1.  Off-peak fares will also be in effect all day on both these holidays.
