New Timetables Starting March 3
Includes Track Work Programs Affecting Port Washington, Montauk, Long Beach, Far Rockaway and Hempstead Branches
New MTA Long Island Rail Road timetables will take effect on Monday, March 3. The timetables include service adjustments for track and construction work affecting the Port Washington, Montauk, Long Beach, Far Rockaway and Hempstead Branches.
Port Washington Branch
A major switch reconstruction program, part of the East Side Access Capital Project, will require significant service changes on the Port Washington Branch on four weekends, March 15-16, March 29-30, April 5-6, and May 17-18. Customers will transfer to the #7 subway between Shea Stadium and Woodside for the entire weekends of March 15-16 and April 5-6. Twelve-hour service disruptions requiring use of the #7 subway between Shea Stadium and Woodside will take place on the weekends of March 29-30 and May 17-18. Montauk Branch
The single track between Patchogue and Speonk will be out of service midday weekdays March 24 through April 2 for grade crossing renewal work at Station Road in Bellport and Bay Pointe Drive in Moriches. Trains will operate on their regular schedules between Babylon and Patchogue and between Speonk and Montauk. However,
Eastbound- Customers for stations Bellport through Montauk will board buses at Patchogue to complete their trips. Trains operating on their regular schedules will serve local customers traveling between Speonk and Amagansett.
Westbound- Customers from stations Montauk through Westhampton will board trains at their stations and transfer to buses at Speonk, then transfer back to trains at Babylon to complete their trips. Bellport and Speonk customers will be provided with buses at their stations and will transfer to trains at Babylon to complete their trips.
Both eastbound and westbound customers should anticipate increased travel time of up to 45 minutes.
Long Beach Branch and St. Albans Station
Weekend switch replacement work east of Jamaica will require schedule changes on Saturdays and Sundays for Long Beach Branch and St. Albans customers. Seventeen westbound weekend Long Beach Branch trains will depart seven minutes later. At St. Albans, eastbound weekend trains will depart 30 minutes later and westbound trains will depart 29 minutes earlier.
Atlantic Branch (Jamaica - Brooklyn)
In order to accommodate construction work at the rail yard near Flatbush Avenue Terminal some midday weekday trains schedules will change. Five eastbound Far Rockaway Branch trains and five eastbound Hempstead Branch trains will depart one minute later. Five westbound Far Rockaway Branch and five westbound Hempstead Branch trains will depart two minutes later.
Oyster Bay Branch
Planned overnight weeknight and weekend LIPA pole installation work between Locust Valley and Oyster Bay has been canceled. Customers should disregard the bus schedule between Locust Valley and Oyster Bay included in the March 3 timetable, as trains will operate normally between these two stations.
