Buses Replace Midday Port Jefferson Trains
Track Work April 21 - June 13
Affects Weekday Off-Peak Eastbound and Westbound Trains
The MTA Long Island Rail Road will provide bus service in place of trains on the Port Jefferson branch from Monday, April 21 through Friday, June 13 when major track work will affect four eastbound and four westbound trains during midday.
Working weekdays after the morning rush, the LIRR will be replacing rail ties over 12 miles of track between Huntington and Smithtown. Customers should expect the bus service to extend travel time by as much as 45 minutes.
There are no changes to peak hour service.
Off-Peak Service Changes
Eastbound
- Customers on the 10:05 AM Hicksville to Port Jefferson train will board buses at Huntington to complete their trip to Port Jefferson.
- The 11:48 AM Huntington to Port Jefferson train will be cancelled. Buses will be available to all points east.
- The 1:05 PM Hicksville to Port Jefferson train will terminate at Huntington. Buses will be available to all points east.
- The 2:48 PM Huntington to Port Jefferson train is cancelled. Buses will be available to all points east.
Westbound
- The 10:10 AM Port Jefferson to Huntington train is cancelled. Buses will be available to Huntington.
- The 11:37 AM Port Jefferson to Hicksville train will operate ONLY between Huntington and Hicksville. Buses will be available to Huntington.
- The 1:10 PM Port Jefferson to Huntington train is cancelled. Buses will be available.
- The 2:37 PM Port Jefferson to Huntington train is cancelled. Buses will be available.
