Job Title:	Superintendent, Facilities Technical Support
Salary:	$71,500 - $113,000
Reports To:	General Superintendent, Facilities Technical Support
Location:	Various Depots

SUMMARY: This position is accountable for managing research into the latest technology of fixed and non-fixed installed equipment that could potentially benefit NYCT Department of Buses, MTA Bus and Long Island Bus by improving safety, reliability and productivity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in the development and implementation of depot/shop productivity improvements and promote safe working conditions by analyzing work process, tools and equipment.
Responsible for the development and/or revision of procedures and bills of materials to incorporate improved work practices and new technology.
Research and analyze equipment, procedures, practices, etc. Work closely with Facilities Staff throughout the department to determine the efficiency and effectiveness of Facilities Operations.
Perform testing on equipment, components, procedures and standards. Coordinate studies and produce related reports.
Make recommendations with the goal of improving safety, reliability, customer satisfaction and productivity of Facilities Operations. Develop procedures and work practices. Assist in the implementation of new procedures throughout the department.
Research technical advancements in the industry and assess the likelihood of successful implementation at NYCT Department of Buses, MTA Bus and LI Bus. Assist in the introduction of these developments into Facilities Operations.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Extensive knowledge of fixed and non-fixed equipment and the procedures/standards required to maintain them including an understanding of specifications.
Knowledge of design, manufacturing processes, product testing and procedures.
Ability to design testing programs and procedures based on engineering specifications.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or comparable applications.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:

6 years of related experience, including 2 years in a managerial/supervisory capacity.
A Valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer is desirable.
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related field; or
Satisfactory equivalent of education and successful experience.
