Job Title:	Director, Storeroom Operations
Salary:	$80,900 - $127,800
Reports To:	Chief Officer, Storerooms and Material Planning
Location:	Various Depots
Deadline:	November 09, 2009

SUMMARY: The Director, Storeroom Operations is accountable for planning, control and direction of the storeroom operations that service the MTA Bus and LI Bus depots.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage the distribution of material to meet repair parts needs and other material requirements to satisfy operational maintenance needs and production.
Oversee the processing of rejected, obsolete and surplus material in storerooms throughout MTA Bus and LI Bus.
Direct the managers involved with the receipt, storage and issuance of parts materials; Ensure storage space is properly allocated and utilized.
Monitor storerooms stock transaction data input into inventory control system; Manage computer interaction between storerooms to ensure parts availability for out-of-service cars/buses/vehicles; Ensure computer systems adequately support storeroom receipt, and issuing documents are processed in a timely manner.
Direct LI Bus' inventory conversion to People Soft and to TA/MTA Bus part numbering.
Serve as lead contributor to the Business Service Center for MTA Bus and LI Bus storeroom upgrade to People Soft.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Extensive knowledge of material management and warehousing methods and procedures.
Knowledge of environmental safety and health regulations.
Ability to plan and organize facilities for maximum space utilization.
Ability to interface with personnel within and outside the organization.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Extensive working knowledge of automated inventory control systems; Strong organizational, analytical and decision-making skills.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:

8 - 10 years of broad experience in the storing of materials, equipment and supplies and warehouse management, including 4 years in a managerial/supervisory capacity.
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or a related field; or
Satisfactory equivalent of education and successful experience.
