Job Title:	Disability Analyst
Salary:	$59,549 - $66,322
Location:	Eastchester Depot, Bronx, NY (after approximately one month of orientation at JFK Depot, Jamaica, NY, this position will be assigned to work at the Eastchester Depot, Bronx, NY).

SUMMARY: The incumbent will review, analyze and process disability claims and make determinations of compensability in accordance with collective bargaining agreements as well as requirements of state and local law, code and regulation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for reviewing individual claims for disability benefits to determine the claimant's eligibility for such benefits in accordance with collective bargaining agreements and MTA Bus Policy and in coordination with the MTA Medical Department.
Responsible for the administration of disability claims, including data entry, file set-up, correspondence and telephone contact with employees, insurance carriers, medical department and depot management.
Review all claims for completeness and obtain supporting documentation as needed by the medical unit.
Determine level of compensable benefits in accordance with collective bargaining agreements and forward payment instructions to payroll for processing. Track, coordinate benefits start and end dates with payroll.
Schedule return to work medicals; Process administrative terminations in accordance with collective bargaining guidelines.
Prepare reports and other related tasks as required by management.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of New York State Insurance Law.
Knowledge of claims regulations and procedures.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong problem-solving, planning and organizational skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or comparable applications.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:

A Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years of full time related experience; or
A satisfactory equivalent of education and successful experience.
