Motorists can avoid Second Avenue traffic by using 37th Street entrance, now open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. weekdays. Turn left onto East 40th or 38th Streets and follow signs.

Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge

One lane in each direction will be closed to traffic weekdays through the fall between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. for concrete repairs beneath the bridge. The southbound lane closure to the Rockaways begins Monday, May 14th and the northbound lane closure to Beach Channel starts Monday, May 21st.

The work is part of the $13.2 million, 26-month project to rehabilitate the bridge's concrete piers.

The Beach Channel Drive eastbound ramp will be closed daily between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. from Mon., May 14th through Fri., May 18th. A detour directing motorists to Rockaway Freeway will be in place.
