Job Description:
Under the supervision of the General Counsel, with latitude for discretion and independent judgment, provide legal advice, direction and representation in connection with Authority commercial contracts, especially concerning capital construction, environmental and joint procurement issues.
Provide legal advice and direction regarding revisions to the Authority's standard contract language. Review and approve contracts, primarily for environmental and project-specific matters, and draft legal documents, including but not limited to contracts and agreements.
Provide legal advice and direction regarding compliance with project-specific and Authority-wide obligations arising from the receipt of federal Department of Homeland Security grants.
Provide legal advice, direction and representation regarding environmental matters including compliance with the State Environmental Quality Review Act and issues involving lead, asbestos and hazardous materials.
Conduct litigation and supervise outside counsel in federal, state and administrative proceedings in any matter assigned but with a particular emphasis on commercial, contractual and environmental matters.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- J.D. degree required.
- Admission to the Bar in the State of New York and to the federal courts.
- Extensive experience in construction law, government contracts, environmental law and federal grant compliance, as well as litigation experience.
